As I write this, I’m realizing that I have thousands of things I have to get done this semester! It seems like a never-ending list, but at least I won’t have to worry about never having anything to do. As a senior in high school, I have a lot of mixed feelings about this time; after all, it means I actually have to say goodbye to some of my favorite things about school.
And, it keeps hitting me that I graduate in about four months–time really does fly by! On top of all of this, we’re still facing a lot of environmental and political uncertainties; the combination of both internal and external chaos was truly getting to me this week, but as I took a step back, I gained cognizance of the most important things this semester.
One thing to remember is that we’re approaching the end of one of the most confusing school years of all time, so it’s okay to take some mental breaks; we’ve put our minds and bodies through a lot! Personally, I’ve always taken a few hours to do the activities I always regret not doing (like reading, listening to podcasts, watching some TikToks, etc) just to make sure I can feel satisfied by the end of the day! This has truly helped me get the most out of my day, making it less flooded with constant work.
Sure, we’ll always have work; that, in the words of my English teacher, will rarely ever stop haunting us. So, the best thing to do is prioritize, and get it done ASAP, so we save some time for ourselves.
I’m very excited to see what 2021 has in store–the hysteria, happiness, and hope! It’ll sure be interesting, and I can’t wait to experience new adventures! 🙂
Also, side note, if you haven’t already, make sure to listen to Driver’s License by Olivia Rodrigo; it’s incredible! https://youtu.be/_0iMee5RuN0
