Turning sixteen is a major milestone, but try not to sweat the fact that you are one year older – there is still a plethora of life to live and learn.
Here are sixteen simple but sweet lessons on life that I’ve learned throughout my sixteen years.
Everything will be OK
- It may not be apparent at this moment, but there is a bright light at the end of every tunnel.
Suicide is NOT a Solution
- Suicide is never the answer. Regardless of how it feels, there are people on this earth who care.
Protect your Vessel
- Make peace with your mind and body. Appreciate being unique – don’t destroy your health to look like someone else.
Stay Active
- Physical activity is the ultimate key to a healthy mind, body, and soul.
Eat Cake
- That’s all. You know you deserve it!
Be Social Media Smart
- Social media is not 100% transparent. Not every follower has good intentions. If you are feeling pressured or bullied by someone online, report them or tell someone. It is always a good idea to unfollow or block any profile that doesn’t leave you feeling positive.
Study
- Grades don’t determine who you are, but they are important in moving from point A to point B.
Be Good to Your Brain
- Always put your mental health first. If your brain doesn’t receive enough TLC, your body won’t be happy.
Speak Up
- Everyone encounters stress, and everyone has different ways of dealing with things. Don’t be ashamed to ask for help – you will thank yourself in the long run.
Tune it Out
- Music can always brighten a moods.
Girls Rule
- Many boys are not taught to respect girls as much as they should.
Together We Are Stronger
- Maintain the friends who will stand by and support you when things get tough.
Be Passionate
- For example, discover a band that you love and don’t be afraid to obsess over them.
Know Your Worth
- Don’t base your self worth off what others say. Remember that we are all simply reflections of one another.
Enjoy Life
- Go to concerts, have a dance party, laugh till you cry – whatever it is that make you happy, do it!
DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE YOURSELF
- When all else fails, be yourself.
