your natural hair
and a smile on your
face, other people
around you want
to look or be like you.
You’re too far ahead
to let anyone
bring you down.
People want you
to be loud, yes,
incomplete. They want
you to need someone else
to be your best,
don’t let anyone
define a Black Queen
before they’ve heard
the way she speaks
before you see the way
she walks and before
you see the way
she acts. We’re
all not perfect but
Black Queens are the best
