you find out you lost them-
what a funny word
you lose your keys and your phone
not a person you love
losing something means forgetting
misplacing and overlooking
losing someone means grieving
raging and sobbing
cause how can you forget
a person who imprinted themself on you
remembering is the only way
to bring them back to this world
so you swear to never go
a day without thinking of them
it can be happy, it can be sad
it can make you cry, but also laugh
but a person who says you lose someone
isn’t entirely wrong
cause day and months and weeks and years
go by way too fast
and soon their wrinkles and jokes fade from your mind
it’s not something you can hold on too
when it’s ripped away with time
but the worst part is
not when you lose the past
but it’s the slow realization
that you forgot their laugh
