Happiness By Corra Maddox

Depiction of happiness

When did happiness become so hard to find

With the dozens of high school assignments

Political issues

And constant wars,

Everywhere you look there is fear and sadness

Everyday I wake up and listen to the news talk about who died last night and what natural disaster destroyed which city

Every day I go to school and hear my peers argue with each other on topics we don’t even really understand

It is hard to remember that there is happiness in the world

But it is there

It is in my friend’s laugh

It is in my mother’s smile

It is in my father’s jokes

And it is in my sister’s goofiness

Happiness is when my dog gets excited for a treat

Happiness is when I correctly throw a toss in color guard

Happiness is when I get to rewatch my favorite movie with my favorite people

Happiness is when I get to see the Universal Orlando globe in person

Happiness might be hard to find

But that is just because the world doesn’t want you to find it

So if it looks like there is no happiness in a moment

Look harder
