One of the hardest things about growing is leaving your family and or home. Most colleges require that their first-year students spend their freshman year on campus. This is a major blow for most people that grew up never being away from their homes for more than a week. One way you can ease this transition is by taking off a little bit of the stress that goes along with planning a dorm.
Here are the things you’ll need to bring with you:
Toiletries:
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Container of some sort to keep your toothbrush/toothpaste inside
- Mouthwash
- Floss
- Optional* Retainer Case/Bands/Rinse Syringe
- Contacts/Contact Solution
- Cleanser (I personally recommend Cetaphil cleansers and the Hydro-Boost Cleanser from Neutrogena)
- Moisturizer
- Optional* Serum/Toner
- Optional* Face Mask (for when you need to relax)
- Scrunchie
- Head band (for when you need something to keep your hair back from your face while washing your face)
- Hairbrush/Comb
- Hair products (shampoo, conditioner, hair oils, etc.)
- Body wash
- Loofa
- Razor
- Shower Caddy
- 4+ Towels
- Bathrobe
- Shower Shoes
- Deodorant & Other stuff to make you smell good (perfume, lotion, etc.)
- Medicine(s)
Furniture:
- Note* You won’t need much furniture because dorms mostly provide furniture
- Closet Organizer
- Shoe Rack
- Sheet Set/Blankets (most dorms have twin XL as their sheet size but definitely check the website)
- Laundry Basket
- Suitcase and or Duffel Bag
- Hangers
- Mirror
Clothing Essentials:
- Underwear
- Bras/Sports Bra
- Socks
- Fuzzy Socks
- Shirts
- Pants
- Shorts
- Hair Ties
- Accessories (jewelry, hair clips, etc.)
