    Folded stars appear before the dinner bell 
    A crispness bites along evening’s window pane 
    The creep of harvest casts its gentle spell 
    And hearths awaken, bright against the rain

    The orange glow beneath the crescent’s light 
    A hush of cold curls upward from the ground 
    Lost leaves take life as dreams in trembling night 
    Their brittle music making autumn’s sound

    October lingers, thoughtful, whisper thin 
    A twig brushing fire on every tree
    The year leans quietly toward its wintering 
    As night walks softly, naming what will be
